A meeting took place between the esteemed President and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On March 3, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia–European Union Summit, met with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of the two neighboring states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the current state and priority areas for the further development of traditionally friendly and brotherly bilateral relations. Noting his sincere pleasure in meeting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand—a city with an ancient history—President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude for the invitation to participate in the first Central Asia–European Union Summit. He also wished success in holding all the scheduled events and thanked the Uzbek side for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Turkmen delegation. As the President of Turkmenistan emphasized, the Republic of Uzbekistan is a sincere friend and close neighbor of Turkmenistan, with whom effective cooperation is being carried out in various spheres. Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag. Thanking the President of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Samarkand and take part in the first high-level CA–EU meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Hero-Arkadag, noting the steady and constructive nature of the interstate dialogue. During the continuation of the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the fact that Turkmen-Uzbek relations—characterized by a high level of trust and mutual support—are developing dynamically across a broad spectrum of areas, including agriculture, electric power, the oil and gas sector, chemical industry, and others. Particular attention is being paid to the formation of transport and energy corridors, the strengthening of interregional ties, and joint work on addressing pressing issues of sustainable development and ensuring stability in Central Asia. In this context, confidence was expressed that the current Summit will become an important step toward closer and mutually beneficial partnership between Central Asia and the European Union. It was also noted that in recent times, business contacts between the entrepreneurial communities of the two countries have noticeably intensified. Taking this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov once again thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his significant personal contribution to the development of interstate dialogue. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed confidence in the further strengthening and expansion of the traditionally friendly and good-neighborly Turkmen-Uzbek relations, wishing each other strong health and success in their state activities, and prosperity and well-being to the brotherly peoples of both nations.
