Turkmenistan and TURKSOY considered topical issues of cooperation
On 3 September, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with a delegation headed by Secretary General of the International Turkic Culture Organisation (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The agenda of the meeting included topical issues of cooperation and outlined promising areas of Turkmenistan's partnership with TURKSOY. It was stated that 2024 is a landmark year for Turkmenistan in the Turkic-speaking world, as the leitmotifs of the current year are the landmark dates of TURKSOY - declaration of the ‘Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World - Makhtumkuli Fraghi’, including the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great classic of Oriental literature, and the election of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world. The participants placed special emphasis on the issues of organising the upcoming joint events aimed at promoting the works of the great poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi and the cultural significance of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau. At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stressed the fruitful nature of Turkmenistan's cooperation with TURKSOY aimed at preserving, studying and popularising the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples in the world.
